Brooklyn Bridge

My bestie was in New York with me this past weekend and we had fun doing some touristy things, like walking across the Brooklyn Bridge! We tried to walk it Saturday, but it starting snowing after lunch and it was a little too much for us to handle for the entire stretch of the bridge. Instead we ended up visiting a few other sites, and squeezing in a little shopping throughout the day, of course. One of my girlfriends recently turned me on to & Other Stories, so when we walked by, I had to drag Melissa in. I’ve been trying not to buy new things that I won’t wear here right now in the cold, it’s been hard. Finding this dress was pretty exciting for me…long sleeves, sweater material, $30, SCORE! I knew exactly how I was going to wear it, and luckily enough, the next day was gorgeous…we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, walked a strip of the High Line, Central Park, and Fifth Avenue down to Time Square. I don’t know if it’s just because there is nothing like this in Houston, but something about crossing the bridge, even though it’s just a walk, felt amazing. This has been my favorite “walk” here so far.

Every day in New York is beautiful and new, there are so many things to see and experience. Exploring this city has been an inspiring adventure and I can’t wait to see what I discover next!

A Little Flare

DSC_8011I believe everyone has trend limits. I think it’s fun to try everything…how else do you learn what works for you?!? One trend that’s been all over the blogosphere lately is flared demin, which I love to see but don’t necessarily love on me. My version of flare is more of an extreme bootcut (not quite 70’s) this is one trend I can’t go all the way with. I realize a lot of people are pulling away from skinny denim, but it’s still my favorite because I find it to be the most versatile. I can’t wear any shoe in my closet with flares, or even boyfriend jeans. So, a little flare every now and then, sure, but they def won’t be replacing my skinnies. DSC_8027DSC_8054DSC_8049DSC_8065DSC_8019DSC_8051DSC_8060DSC_7999

I’ve got another Tshirt and skirt combo for y’all this week, this one’s a bit more casual…

I found this shirt on Pinterest a few months back and immediately went to the Thug Life Shirts website to purchase it. They’ve got a bunch of really fun sayings and they’re shirts fit well. The color feels a little dull right now for summer so I whipped out my most fun and colorful skirt and let that be the focal point keeping the rest somewhat simple. Black pumps, clear earrings, and a ponytail. I would also really love this with my “nudist” style hot pink heeled sandals just to add a little pop outside of the grey/purple/blue palette. Great brunching outfit, right?!?

City of Lights

IMG_0003I’m baaaaack! I flew in from Guatemala Sunday morning and life has been non stop since! After landing around 10 am I went to my parents house to rest and recover in order to make it through a 17 mile run that afternoon. It was painful, but Melissa and I made it through. Luckily I was able to squeeze in three 30 minute beach jogs the last few days of my trip, otherwise, there’s no way I would have survived Sunday! I ended up staying at my parents’ that night doing laundry and catching up with my dad so I didn’t make it back to my place until Monday after work…where my landlords told me they sold the house and I have to be out of my adorable little garage apartment in June :( I’m so sad, I’m going to miss them and my my life there so much, but I know this just means it’s time for a fabulous new phase of my life! I’ll figure out exactly what that means soon enough…but the past two nights I’ve been cleaning and packing. I’ll be living out of my suitcase for another 10 days while I housesit for my sister’s mother in law. I was feeling very inspired while I packed tho, so I’m excited about some possible future blog posts :)

Melissa and I took these before I left but I couldn’t find the time to post them since, well, you know, life…

These Old Navy Rockstar jeans in black are my absolute FAVORITE, this is the third pair I’ve bought! I know that doesn’t sound like a good thing but in this case, it is! We all know black unfortunately fades super fast, but since this pair has never cost me more than $30, I’m more than happy to re purchase when my old ones start to loose their luster. Especially since these are the most comfortable, perfectly fitted legging/jean ever!IMG_0027IMG_0013IMG_0021IMG_0122IMG_0054IMG_0093IMG_0102IMG_0090Old Navy jeans and T shirt (fun options here & here) // Mural blazer // Steve Madden heels (great options here, here & here) // old clutch (option, love this) // Sanrio compact
