I don’t know how many of y’all are like this, but I find myself always trying to clean out my closet. Like once a month. Maybe it’s because I have limited closet space, I’m not sure, but I’m always reorganizing and trying to get rid of things. The key word being TRY, I have several pieces that I’ve owned for years but have only worn a handful of times. I want to get rid of them but I always feel like as soon as I do I’m going to find myself in need of the same thing. So, every time I’m reorganizing I try these items on again and again in hopes of finding some way to update and salvage them. I’m determined! Luckily I’ve been finding inspiration lately and finally wearing (out in public) several pants and dresses that have been sitting in the back of my closet waiting for the day I decide they aren’t worth the space they are taking up.
This dress is one of those items I stopped wearing a while back because it wasn’t very flattering, but I got it like 4 years ago from a chain store in Madrid for like $10 and I really like the pattern detailing on it. Recently during one of my try on everything in my closet nights I threw this super old black sweater vest over it and thought, why not? I love mixing blacks and browns, and the sleeveless layering was perfect since it still shows off the detailing of the dress. It was looking better but still not very flattering, til I reached for the belt….I stayed with the neutral autumn palette but went for a new shade. These pics were taken in Old Town Spring, I kinda felt like I needed to visit a pumpkin patch in this outfit though, weird I know. Probs cuz of the hat, I love it, but it’s got a scarecrow vibe. Makes me think of pumpkins and Halloween, which is coming up and I can’t wait!
So the point of this post was to tell you that if you have items in your closet that you just can’t bare to part with but you’re at a loss for how to wear them, it’s ok! Don’t give up, inspiration will strike you one day, just keep playing with different ideas…layering, jewelry, belts…
Happy Monday! I hope everyone gets to enjoy a little closet play time this week :)
