Casual Leather

It’s Friday!!! That means casual, right?!? So I’m gonna finish up my week of faux leather around Houston with a very casual look at the new James Turrell Skyspace at Rice University. This place is amazing, it’s kind of in the middle of the campus, so you have to walk to get there (wear flats) but it’s mostly shaded and the whole campus is gorgeous which makes for a nice walk anyway. Make sure you head out there just before sunset (or sunrise if you’re an early riser, unlike me) so you can catch the light show reflected throughout this structure!

My thoughts on making leather casual…treat it like your favorite pair of jeans. Just add white Tee, scarf, booties and you’re ready to go. I hope y’all enjoyed all my faux leather looks this week, and getting to see some of Houston :) If I convinced just one person to add a leather basic to their closet, I’m a happy girl! And it doesn’t have to be a skirt, that’s just my fave. Leather pants probs won’t work year round but a lightweight leather vest, boxy leather shorts or tops/jackets that just have leather sleeves are so fun and still wearable in Houston.  I’ve actually been lusting over leather shorts forever but I couldn’t find just the right fit. When they first came out they were fitted and I just didn’t feel comfortable trying to pull that off. Now you can find them in wider fits that are super flattering like these bermudas that I think I’ve finally decided on…unless these babies go on sale soon.
